Many tropical fruits are particularly flavorful, sweet, juicy, and tender, making them appealing to people of all ages.

Yams, beets, parsnips, carrots, yuca, celery root, turmeric, jicama, radishes, and ginger are all considered roots. Because root vegetables grow underground, they absorb a great amount of nutrients from the soil. 

 The aromatic flavorings can transform a dish without adding calories or fat.
