Sweet, brightly colored citrus fruits bring a burst of sunshine into winter days.  But citrus fruits are not only flavorful and pretty — they’re also good for you.

 Hot peppers add zest, magical flavor and heat to numerous dishes. Most can be used red or green--fresh, cooked or dried. You can even pickle your hot peppers   

Different colors indicate a variety of nutrients in fruits and vegetables.  Try dark leafy greens; brightly colored red, yellow and orange vegetables and cooked tomatoes 

Many tropical fruits are particularly flavorful, sweet, juicy, and tender, making them appealing to people of all ages.

Yams, beets, parsnips, carrots, yuca, celery root, turmeric, jicama, radishes, and ginger are all considered roots. Because root vegetables grow underground, they absorb a great amount of nutrients from the soil. 

 The aromatic flavorings can transform a dish without adding calories or fat.
